I have created a Vimeo account that will serve as a video repository for the items I post here on CORNDOGS.ORG.
Now you can watch them streaming online! Though the quality will be better if you download it. Vimeo gives you that option.
Scroll to the bottom of the Vimeo page and look on the bottom right-hand side for a link to download.
for example, here's the MINUTEMEN at Mabuhay Gardens, San Francisco, January 9, 1981.
MINUTEMEN - January 9, 1981 - Mabuhay Gardens - San Francisco, CA, USA from Corndogs.ORG on Vimeo.
Ahhhhh! Here is a recently unearthed interview with D. Boon conducted by KXLU DJ Splat Winger.Available in beautiful FLAC or plucky MP3.
June 26, 2007
What? This place has a pulse?
Well, don't get too excited, but in my quick downtime I snagged this little gem off of dimeadozen.
It's the MINUTEMEN opening for Black Flag in San Francisco.
The show took place on January 9, 1981 at the Mabuhay Gardens.
Only five minutes long. A little rough from VHS wear, but you'll dig it.
MPEG2 - DVD ready (165 megabytes)
please right-click and save!
songs: Joe McCarthy's Ghost * Suburban Dialectic * Contained * Validation * The Punch Line * Spraycan Wars

Whoa! Watt has sent in the Reactionaries!!
Who are they?
They were Mike Watt, D.Boon, George Hurley and Martin Tamburovich.
The precursor to the MINUTEMEN!
Check out the 9 songs they recorded in George's shed in 1979! MP3 (192 kb/s)
July 4, 2005
Yeah... so not much goes on here much these days. I've been touring like a hound (which is good!!), but it doesn't allow much time to mess with this site.
Watt did just send in this MP3 (128 kb/s) to me though. It's a version of Sleater-Kinney's All Hands On The Bad One recorded at some point in 2000... somewhere. Watt doesn't know. Maybe you do?
we do know this much... Watt was with a pair of pliers:
watt - bass + spiel
tom watson - guitar + singing
vince meghrouni - drums + singing
that is all! -=> s.d.b.

Good news! I recently talked to my server dude, decker, and he said we'll have at least 30 more gigs soon! Hopefully, I can get through this backlog of stuff before I head out on the road next month.
I just made a page for an acoustic gig by the MINUTEMEN. It took place at KPFK FM in Los Angeles on September 3, 1983. Unfortunately, I only have a MP3 sourced version. Also, the recording seems a bit slow. If anybody can provide the real deal, it would rule. But I thought it was cool enough to put up these MP3's in the meantime. This one has been bootlegged widely so I KNOW one of youse guys/gals has this! P.S. A FLAC version has arrived! Thanx to bunkhousemm! (November 24, 2005)
Lastly, stumbled across a tribute page to D.Boon by one of his best friends, Tom Trocolli.
l8rdaze!
December 27, 2004
I just stumbled across some awesome pictures of the MINUTEMEN. Dude Murray Bowles took the photos at a gig on June 30, 1984 at a place called Ruthie's Inn in Berkeley, California.
December 10, 2004
Well almost a year has past and nothing new going on here. Those 480 gigs never
got put online. And the server is full. Hence, no new stuff!! Plus I've been
touring with my bands a lot. So Corndogs has been left to rest on the backburner.
Many thanx and apologies to those who have donated stuff, but have failed to
see their efforts shared with the Corndogs faithful. I have a plan to convert
everything to FLAC and that'll free up some space. I still have a grand goal
of placing a DVD ready version of Corndogs! online. It could happen. Providing
time etc... ;-)
I can offer this little nugget though. It's the georgeless
e.p.!
cya round the bend.......

If you have broadband, you have to check out a message board
called, Sharingthegroove.org Easytree.org! It keeps
blowing my mind. Using a program called BitTorrent
(I use ABC as my client),
you can share and grab an unfathomable array of bootlegs that are posted on
the board. It's quite addicting. Dig it.
December 13, 2003
I
just snagged a copy of the MINUTEMEN Duet
performed by Mike Watt and George Hurley at the All
Tomorrow's Parties 2003 festival in Long Beach, CA. The show took place
on November 8, 2003. The audio is a bit distant and boomy, but it's definitely
worth checking out. Available in MP3 and FLAC(!)
formats.
November 21, 2003
I
just got an email from Martin Lyon. Martin took a bunch of
photos of the MINUTEMEN back in 1980. That's about as early
as it gets! He also took some photos of fIREHOSE and Sonic
Youth on one their early tours together in 1987. Martin is offering
prints of these photos on his website. There's some good ones. You should do
yourself a favor and check them out at martinlyon.com.

No new files though I did just find this handy
page for those of you who burn CD's with Nero. There's a plugin
on here that will let you burn SHN files without having to convert them.
Make sure you place the plugin in your "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Ahead\AudioPlugins\"
folder.
September 26, 2003
We're still waiting for some more drive space to be hooked up to the server
(400 gigs coming soon!).
In the meantime, here's two short clips. The first is the Meat Puppets talking about the MINUTEMEN in an excerpt from an interview of unknown origins. The second clip is from a cassette tape played on the radio in tribute to the MINUTEMEN and D.Boon from just after his passing. The tape originated from Crane supposedly. The tape contains goofin' around in D.Boon's house with his roommates and friends.

Lookee
here... the MINUTEMEN played a gig on November
15, 1985 at Safari Sam's in Huntington Beach, CA. Thanx to Paul
for the source. And Gil for the original. Gil
also provided some
photos of the MINUTEMEN playing at the club. As
well as some CD artwork. Here's the front
cover and the back
cover. Enjoy!

May 19, 2003
OK...
time to get stoked! I've just placed some great video stuff up! While the source
quality varies, I've tried to clean up and present these videos in the highest
quality possible. I think you'll be very pleased! See what's available in the
video section.
Also, Richard Derrick has kindly provided us with a fIREHOSE show he recorded way back on August 22, 1987. The show took place at a private house party in San Pedro, CA. A bit light on the Watt spectrum, but 1st generation quality. You can hear the band working out tunes for the yet to be recorded 'If'n'.
May 4, 2003
Thanx to contributions from Jon Layton and
Igor Grunschev we have available a short set from Dos.
That's Mike Watt and Kira Roessler. Two basses.
The show took place at September 23, 1997
at the Sacred Grounds Coffee House in San Pedro, CA
April 15, 2003
I just stumbled across a site called Protest-Records.com.
The site has a wide number of contemporary underground artists contributing
songs of protest. Thurston Moore and Mike Watt
contribute a cover of Tom Rapp's Fourth
Day of July. (.MP3 192 kb/s). The song was
recorded at Watt's pad in Pedro on January 1, 2003.
March 17, 2003
Happy
St. Patrick's Day! Here's a very very cool show by Banyan.
The show took place at the Elbo Room
in San Francisco, CA on October 12, 2002. Banyan
performed two sets and both are provided in their entirety. You should really
check this one out.
January 13, 2003
My
good friend, Casper Fandango, has provided Corndogs with a
copy of the Lucky Sperms 7". The record was released by
Ecstatic Peace! mostly likely in 1987. It features Watt
and Steve Shelley doing a version of Walking The
Cow (MP3
SHN) on the A side. The
flip side is a version of Tomorrow Never Knows/Glass Onion
(MP3 SHN)
that features Watt plus his cohorts in Ciccone Youth.
December 6, 2002
Okeh... here's a show by Mike Watt and the Pair of Pliers.
The show took place October 8, 2000 at
the Higher Ground in Winooski, Vermont. Watt on bass with Tom
Watson on guitar and Vince Meghrouni on drums. Again
in both MP3 and SHN formats. And again the
source was kindly provided by Trevor Coffman.
December 4, 2002
Hey Hey... Trevor Coffman has sent me a couple
of cool things. The first I present for your pleasure is a live performance
and interview by Watt and the Black Gang Crew
on a program called, Morning
Becomes Eclectic. The show aired on December 9, 1997 on KCRW
in Santa Monica, CA . The quality is fantastic. The band performs selections
from Watt's opera, Contemplating The Engine Room. Available
in both MP3 and SHN format. Check it out HERE.
November 5, 2002
So not much happening right now with the site. I've been gigging
a lot recently with my bands. I'll be back and free of obligations in December.
Thanx to everybody who's sent something for the cause. Here's a Watt
spiel on skateboarding courtesy of Robert Locker
to tide ya over for a little bit.
September 4, 2002
Using
a program called ASFRecorder, I was able to capture most the Asheton
Asheton Mascis Watt gig streaming from the Pukkel Pop Festival
in Belgium. It's a Stooges tribute show. The gig took place
August 24, 2002. 48 minutes long. I'm going to try to convert the video to some
other formats and trim the songs out at some point. For now it's just one big
hunk. It's an ASF file (that's Window Media format). Total file size is roughly
55 megs. The video starts in middle of Loose (sorry.. it took me awhile
to figure out the stream location) and runs until the end of the show. It's
not stellar quality, but it's pretty wild to see all the camera angles and stuff.
The video is 15 fps and encoded for 158 kb/s. I had no control over this unfortunately.Check
it out HERE.
You might need to do the ole "right click - save target as' maneuver on
the link. You can also look at some pictures from the gig HERE.
Here's the setlist:
Fun House (not recorded) |
No Fun I Wanna Be Your Dog 1969 Little Doll 1970 TV Eye |
On
another cool note, I just acquired a copy of a song called Stomp.
This one comes directly from Watt's 'puter. It's him and some
friends doing a cover of a Die Kreuzen tune. It's destined to
be on a Die Kreuzen tribute record at some point. Crane
plays trumpet on it. Here's the liner notes Watt sent me. The
notes were written by drummer and knob twirler, Joe Barile Jr:this version of die kreuzen's
"stomp" was recorded in |
mike watt - bass and vox crane - trumpet joe barile jr. - drums and knobs adam gaxiola - guitars donald "soul station #1" lewis, jr. - tenor sax mike "cha" machalicky - baritone sax |
August 25, 2002
I just added a really cool MINUTEMEN
interview aired by Non-plussed radio magazine
circa 1981 (or possibly 1982).
August 1, 2002
You should check out the odds
and ends section. I've added a lot of rare stuff recently. Some
more to come.
July 24, 2002
I found this cool little interview with Watt on a great site
called EMPlive. You'll
need Windows Media Player to view it. The interview is available in HIFI
or lofi,
This interview was a part of their exhibit entitled, Punk
Chronology.
July 17, 2002
Watt
has given me permission to add things that are out of print and hard to find.
To start things off, I've added the fIREHOSE promotional CD,
Big Bottom Pow Wow.
Watt hosts a discussion of 'da bass' with Flea,
Cris Kirkwood and Les Claypool (via phone).
Check it out.
July 6, 2002
Well... I've finally acquired some of Watt's latest gigs. Thanx to
John Merino, we now have online 2 of Watt's shows with the 'jom &
terry show.' That's Tom Watson on guitar and Jerry
Trebotic on drums. Watt on bass. Basically, the same
set for both gigs. Check 'em out and hear for yourself: September
25, 2001 - Lawrence, KS and June
1, 2002 - Lawrence, KS.
May 28, 2002
Two more MINUTEMEN shows are now available. The
first is The Stone - San Francisco
- December 1, 1984. The second is the WREK
- Atlanta - November 30, 1985 broadcast. Some of the songs from
this one appeared on Ballot Result. I spent a good deal of
time preparing this one.
If ya got any boots to share, please do! You'll get a cool D.Boon pin! ;^)
May 25, 2002
Here's another MINUTEMEN show for ya: Berkeley
Square - September 21, 1985.
Enjoy!
April 2, 2002
I've gone plum crazy and posted yet another MINUTEMEN show.
This one is from a bootleg called, live
at flynn's ocean 71. The show took place on August 2, 1984 in Miami
Beach, FL. Luckily for you, I fixed all the terrible indexing problems on the
boot cd. Over 70 minutes. Check it out.
April 1, 2002
Today
is D. Boon's birthday. To celebrate I've put online 2 more MINUTEMEN
shows. One is the notorious Just
A Minute... Men bootleg
that at the time raised the ire of the MINUTEMEN. The second is a radio
broadcast sponsored by SPIN magazine
from the summer of 1985.
Also, just to let you know that Watt's got a new tour coming your way. Click here to get the info and dates.
March

I'm extremely pleased to announce that the infamous CORNDOGS
video is available for download! Many people, most notably Jeff Saunders,
have been working long hours trying to make this a reality. At some point in
the near future, cheap VHS and DVD versions will be available. I'll post that
info when it becomes available. In meantime check out these high quality Quicktime
clips in the video section.
March 29, 2002
I've finally made the site a little easier. Simplicity is sometimes the
best way.
I've added a full MINUTEMEN show: Mabuhay Gardens October 26, 1981 .
